Riding the Waves
"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf." -John Kabat-Zinn
We are all in the same storm, but we do not share the same boat. I am not going to tell you to be optimistic or look for the silver lining. I don't know what your boat looks like. I know my boat is not the same size, carries different things, and is leaking from different places then your boat might be. They might be similar, but they are not the same. I'm sure we are not getting hit by the same waves either. Your waves may be hitting you faster or stronger. So if you can't stop the waves, how do you learn to surf? You feel it. Let yourself feel the way you feel and then let it go. Take a breath and rise to the surface. You can't stop the waves, but you can learn from them. You can't stop the waves, but you can get on top of them. You can't stop the waves, but you can surf them. With each wave we get stronger, we figure out when to take a deep breath and how to let the waves pass without pulling us under. And when the strong waves hit, though it may knock us down harder, we'll know we can get up faster and stronger then before. We will hit calm waters. And you will be surfing before you know it.
