What to Expect at Your First Class

Walking into a yoga studio for the first time can feel intimidating — we get it. Here's what you can expect when you arrive:

A warm welcome. Our instructors know many students by name and love meeting new faces. You'll never feel out of place.

Props and support. Blocks, straps, blankets — we have everything you need to make every pose comfortable and accessible.

Your own pace. There's no competition in our classes. Rest when you need to, modify when you want to, and celebrate every small win.

Community. Many of our senior students have become close friends. This is a place to connect, not just exercise.

Common Questions

Not at all! Gentle Flow — For Seniors is designed specifically for beginners and those with no prior yoga experience. Our instructors offer step-by-step guidance and modifications throughout the entire class.
Yes! In fact, stiffness is exactly why yoga can help. Gentle movement, deep breathing, and supported stretches are designed to increase circulation and gradually improve flexibility — without strain or pain.
Many of our students manage conditions like arthritis, osteoporosis, and chronic pain. We always recommend checking with your doctor first, and please let your instructor know about any concerns before class — they'll make sure you're well supported.
Gentle Flow involves slow, guided movement through poses that build strength, flexibility, and balance. Yin is more meditative — you hold deep stretches for 2–5 minutes to release tension in the connective tissue. Both are wonderful for seniors. Gentle Flow is a great starting point!
Just yourself! We provide yoga mats and all props (blocks, straps, blankets). Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing you can move freely in. Arrive 5–10 minutes early for your first class so we can welcome you properly.
If you're feeling ready for a bit more, Slow Flow and Yogalates are wonderful options for those under 70 or with some prior movement experience. Slow Flow adds gentle warmth and rhythm, while Yogalates blends yoga with light Pilates-inspired toning. Ask our instructors which is right for you!
