You can’t ride better than your body allows!

Riding for extended periods can lead to physical problems if you neglect your well-being afterward. Yoga can help you become a more proficient rider and alleviate discomfort.

Ocala is the horse capital of the world, and with the WEC right here, you're surrounded by some of the most dedicated equestrians on the planet. But hours in the saddle take a real toll, quietly eroding your performance and inviting injury.

At Evolve Power Yoga, our classes are designed to address exactly what riders need:

Deep hip openers, spinal mobility, single-leg balance, and functional core strength

Focusing on these areas translates directly to a better position, lighter hands, and a more connected ride.

Whether you're a hunter/jumper, dressage rider, or western competitor, your body is your most important piece of equipment. We'll help you take care of it.

Equestrians commonly struggle with:

  • Tight hip flexors

  • Gripping thighs

  • Short hamstrings

  • Lower back tension

  • Collapsed core late in the round

  • Stiff thoracic spine (blocking the canter)

Yoga increases hip mobility and lengthens overactive muscles — allowing you to sit deeper and move with your horse rather than against them.

Result: Softer seat. Fewer back aches. Happier horse.

Competitive riding is as much mental as physical. Yoga teaches:

  • Controlled breathing under pressure

  • Body awareness during stress

  • Emotional regulation

Result: Better timing, clearer aids, steadier nerves at shows.

You can’t ride better than your body allows.

Questions From Riders Like You

Absolutely not — and this is one of the most common concerns we hear. Every class at Evolve offers modifications, and our instructors are trained to meet you where you are. Riders actually tend to pick up the body-awareness component quickly. You already know how to feel subtle shifts in balance and weight. That translates beautifully to yoga.
The right kind of movement is exactly what sore muscles need. Slow Flow in particular is designed to increase circulation, reduce inflammation, and release the deep tension that rest alone doesn't fix. Many riders find they recover faster on days they do yoga than on days they don't move at all.
Even one class per week creates measurable change over time. Two to three sessions per week is ideal for riders who want faster results. We also offer a virtual Slow Flow class that fits around barn schedules — you can join from anywhere with a mat and a 60-minute window.
Yes — Power Vinyasa is your class. Heated to 90 degrees, it's a genuine strength and endurance workout. You'll build core stability, leg strength, shoulder stability, and cardiovascular fitness. Flexibility is a byproduct, not the focus. Many riders are surprised by how challenging it is.

We're located at 923 North Magnolia Avenue in Ocala, Florida — convenient to the WEC less then 20 minute drive and close to the surrounding equestrian communities. We also offer live virtual classes for riders who can't always make it to the studio.

We provide mats and all props.

Bring your own mat or rent one for $1 at the studio

We also sell yoga mats in our retail area that come with a Lifetime Warranty!

For Power Vinyasa: a water bottle, a small towel (the room is heated to 90 degrees), and comfortable workout clothes.

For Slow Flow: same basics, though you may not need as much water. Arrive 10 minutes early for your first visit so we can get you set up.

What Hours in the Saddle Does to Your Body

Every discipline creates specific tension patterns. Yoga targets them all.

01

Hips & Hip Flexors

Constant hip flexion in the saddle shortens your hip flexors and compresses the hip joint. This leads to anterior pelvic tilt, lower back pain, and difficulty achieving a deep, independent seat.

Yoga fix: Deep lunge sequences, pigeon pose, and hip-circle mobility work restore full range of motion and release chronic gripping patterns.

02

Lower Back & Spine

Posting trot, two-point position, and absorbing movement through your lower back creates compression and muscle imbalance. Many riders develop chronic lumbar tightness that worsens over years.

Yoga fix: Spinal decompression, cat-cow sequencing, and twists restore disc space and relieve the deep paraspinal muscles that never fully release.

03

Core & Stability

A strong core is your foundation in the saddle — but most riders have surface-level strength without deep stabilizer engagement. This creates compensatory patterns that tire you out fast.

Yoga fix: Plank variations, boat pose, and single-leg balance work build the deep transverse abdominis and oblique strength that keeps you effortlessly upright.

04

Shoulders & Neck

Holding contact, carrying arms in position, and looking ahead creates chronic upper trapezius tension and rounded shoulders — which then affects your rein contact and horse communication.

Yoga fix: Shoulder-opening flows, chest openers, and neck release sequences decompress the upper body and restore the soft, following arm every horse appreciates.
